Ah yes, wonderful Beth! Never went to a GF in Melb but was 14 in Bendigo when Rochester won the final. Such euphoria, and then the victory parade down the main street. There’s nothing like it. Except if you lose, then all hell breaks loose!

I’ve switched to watching on 7 but with ABC radio commentary which is much better! Lions are smashing it!

good idea! I tried 3aw commentary and it seemed to be out of beat with the ch7 visuals... and I got bored... but I've now got the abc commentary on the phone app.. and it sounds much more like I remember it in my childhood.. a kind of tinny, mesmerising rise and fall wallpaper.

Yeah ABC is always the best, now I’ve switched full to 7 for the presentations. Love watching all the emotions!!

me too! It's so rare we see lots of men being emotional in a good way (ie not angry, or getting fired up for battle or something) - and all the hugging. Yay to the hugging. But I do feel for the losers, and especially for the partners of the losers... not a fun night ahead. Good to see a few exchanges of respect between the Lion guys and the Swan guys at the end. We all know what it feels like to lose. And knowing how to feel your feels about your own loss while being happy for the winners - very much a part of the writing life too!

Yeah that’s why I’m going for the Lions, will be a sweeter victory if they manage it, going well so far! I love the commentary, so Aussie, esp when they get excited!

Yes, even at a local level, never been at a really big final, would like to just to experience the roar of the crowds. Na probs won’t tune in, actually I prefer NRL as a watchable sport, in small doses. I’m afraid I’m no longer a Victorian!

Ah, Rochie! Up near where two of my brothers live. ... And yes it's an extraordinary thing to be in a footy crowd when your team is winning... or losing... A microcosm of life in a competitive binary culture. And there certainly is a different feeling in the air in a footy town on finals days. Will you be tuning in to it today?
